About Martha

Martha Madison was born in Newport News, Va and raised in Houston, TX.  The youngest of her mother’s three girls and the oldest of her father’s three children makes her the brunt of a fun riddle….She is the oldest, the youngest AND an only child…..with two brothers and two sisters!

Martha started studying acting at the age of 6 at the The Actors’ Theatre of Houston as well as Houston’s renowned Theatre Under the Stars.  By highschool, Martha embraced her love of dance and with years of work and practice became Captain of the Cypress Creek Silverado dance team!  After graduating, Martha enrolled at Texas A&M University where she also excelled to became the Captain of the nationally-ranked, Division 1-A, Texas Aggie Dance Team. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, Martha was accepted into the musical theatre program of the prestigious American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.  She studied under the tutelage of Mark Riherd, Philip George and Lars Rosager while working hard to hone her craft as a dancer, singer and actress.

In August of 2003, Martha moved to LA to focus her energies on television and film.  In July of 2004 (a short 11 months after her arrival), Martha was cast as the beloved character, “Belle Black” on NBC’s long-running soap opera, “Days of Our Lives.”  After playing the role for nearly 4 years, “Belle sailed away” from Salem.  Since then, Martha has had the great fortune to guest star on shows like “Without A Trace,” and “Criminal Minds,” as well as recently starring in Hallmark’s romantic comedy, “Undercover Bridesmaid” with Brooke Burns and Justin Baldoni.  She currently appears on the Emmy Nominated web series, “The Bay,” as the bold, yet romantically confused leading character of “Marly Nelson-Foster”.

Outside of the entertainment industry, Martha regularly finds time to support many charities.  Most notably, she became a National Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 2005.  Her mother was diagnosed with this devastating disease in 1983, so Martha has proudly joined in the effort to raise awareness and funds for research.  You can see her page here.

On August 25th 2007, Martha and her boyfriend, AJ Gilbert, were married at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. Together, they own both popular locations of Luna Park Kitchen and Cocktails (located in the trendy Mission District of SF and also in Hollywood, CA).  Martha and AJ also recently designed and launched the very first restaurant inventory app for smartphones and tablets, ChefSheet.com. In their downtime, they love to travel and play with their dog, Henry.
